Lisa Adamson once found the love of her life on North Carolina's Outer Banks, only to lose it when her Marine husband died in an Iraqi village. Now she's back on the Banks. Has she found that magic once more, with the magnetic Bran Douglas? She thinks so—until she learns his unforgiveable secret.
I was raised in the Navy, married into the Marine Corps, and had several Air Force uncles. To all the brave men and women of the military—and their families—who sacrifice for the rest of us, I'd like to dedicate this story, with admiration and gratitude.

for Perfect to the Corps
"I didn't mean to offend you by saying you look like my husband."
"Deceased husband," he corrected.
She should have been offended by the way he said it, but wasn't. "Well, yes, technically."
"Factually. He's gone." He came forward so suddenly she jumped. "But we're still here, still alive, still able to—"
Her breath caught at his intensity. "Still able to…what?"
Shaking his head, he hesitated only a moment. A genuine smile lit his face. "Have dinner with me?"
She bit her lip, thinking of all the men she and Mark had known and those she'd met after his death. None had sparked the fire in her belly that this man did. None had been dangerously attractive, none had left her panting at the thought of finally finding more to life than she had since Mark's death. Not a single man since Mark had filled her with need or made her want, truly want, to live again. Until now.
"Um… Sure. Dinner sounds fine, but is now okay? I really should eat something after so many beers."
"Sounds good. If you'll excuse me, I'll see if they can fit us in."
He stood and then walked away, looking every bit as good from the back as he had from the front. She imagined him naked, in the shower. The breadth of his shoulders begged to be caressed by her palms. She'd stroke across and then down his back where she would trace his tight, round butt with wet fingers—or maybe with her tongue.
Then he'd turn and she'd take him in her mouth while water sluiced off her back. He'd be long and hard as steel, and he'd fill her mouth to the back of her throat. She'd tongue the vein running his length and suck his satiny mushroom head, urging him to come.
The picture heated her like a fire from the inside. Her underwear soaked, she squeezed her thighs together. Her knuckles whitened with the force used to clasp her hands on the table.
Damn! What was wrong with her? She hadn't had a reaction this strong to a man since meeting Mark, when they'd said hello for the first time on Tuesday, and been in bed by Thursday.
It had to be the fact that she was there at Nags Head, where she and Mark had met and also honeymooned. Add two year's celibacy to that, and Bran's resemblance to Mark, and she had all the makings of an explosive situation.
Damn Donna for leaving them alone. For the few remaining days, Lisa would make sure that didn't happen again. Otherwise, she couldn't be responsible for what her wild libido would have her doing.

for Perfect to the Corps
"PERFECT TO THE CORPS is a moving story of fate and second chances.
This story is a perfect reminder of the many brave individuals who sometimes give it their all while in service and to those who long-sufferingly wait at home. Dee S. Knight has written a superb tribute to those who serve our country, whether they are in the military or offer support as a spouse, and this book helps me to remember how eternally grateful I am to each one of them."

"What fate hath brought together let no man put asunder.
Ms. Knight created a whirlwind romance packed in a short story about past love, loss, and being open to find love again. Sometimes finding love again isn’t possible with the same man and getting over the past can be toughest part. Lisa’s character is a great example of what many people with spouses in the war struggle with these days. She is your everyday working woman trying to find her way in this world without her husband. She believes she’s not missing anything by not having a new man in her life and she struggles with letting go of the past. Bran may not have been completely forthcoming to Lisa, but he is quite honorable in his intentions to the widow, which he makes clear to her from the beginning. With the focus of the story mostly on these two characters, it was easy to connect with both." 4 Cherries, Dahlia, The Long and Short of It - Whipped Cream
